Los Monitos Language Company has had many great students over the years and some pretty great ones now. We know that in different seasons of life, our students have to make choices that might put their language learning on pause. We get it. For those students, we have some great news this Fall. We’re offering some “Come Back Deals” that are better than any other deals we publish.

For our former PRIVATE INSTRUCTION Students, for every 8-block you purchase, you’ll receive a discount that will make your 8th class FREE! And hey, if you personally can’t come back, you can transfer this one-time deal to a family member or friend. This offer will be valid for 6 months after first block is purchased. If you prefer, you can take advantage of the FLEXGROUP deal instead!

For our former FLEXGROUP Students, you can either choose to get a 1-class credit per month for up to 6 months OR a 1-class credit for every new student you bring with you (limit 2) – and that’s for as long as they stay in the group!

Have you ever been excited about enrolling in a new class or program just to find out that none of the available options fit your schedule? Have you ever tried to guess a number that someone is thinking of? Both of these scenarios are frustrating AND representative of both students and teaching institutions.  There’s got to be a better way.  We think we have found it! With our new FLEXGROUPS learning community, we find or form groups around what prospective students want – the language they want to take at their proficiency level and on a day and time that works for them.

Even after you find a class that fits your schedule (or re-arrange your life to  make it fit), it can still be frustrating.  Like paying in advance for the entire semester or missing a class that you paid for due to sickness or travel.  Not to brag, but we fixed that, too! FLEXGROUPS payments are monthly for only one month in advance. And if you miss a class, you get a $20 credit towards a future month’s fees.

So, yeah, we’re excited about this change and we’re encouraging all of our former, current and prospective group class enthusiasts to complete a Language Learner Profile so that we can find or form a language learning group.  For more information, visit our FLEXGROUPS page.

We continue to offer private and semi-private instruction and customized group programs like French or Italian for Travelers. Please contact us directly for more information about those.

Parents who have sent their children to Los Monitos Language Camps in the past all agree that there are no other camps that compare with them! Los Monitos camps combine educational, inspirational, and international camp content with unique and engaging themes.  The learning philosophy at Los Monitos is the same for adults as it is for kids – people learn when they are interested in something, and they get interested when they are engaged and/or having fun while they’re doing it!  Most kids are not going to become fluent in a foreign language by attending these camps, but that’s not the objective.  The objective is to expose them to languages, cultures, geography, foods, media, and people from all over the world. Most kids lock in on aspects of certain countries and it fuels their motivation to continue learning!

Los Monitos is offering three kinds of camps this Summer – Arts & Adventure, Multimedia, and Cooking Camps.  The arts and adventure camps include Los Artistas, a long-time favorite, where campers paint, sing and dance their way through Latin America all while learning Spanish. Their projects will adorn the walls like an art gallery by the end of the week.  Los Piratas – A Pirate Camp! is also back, where young piratas will explore the Spanish language, Latin American culture and geography as they virtually travel to the Caribbean, South Atlantic and Pacific Seas in search for tesoro. And of course, the thrilling International Spy Camps return with 3 new international missions. Spy recruits embark on analyzing “Eyes Only” intel on chosen continents while learning local languages, culture, and geography in Europe, Asia, and all around the world! The week is full of top secret briefings from global ops officers, exciting training activities, taste-testings, and a top operative competition!

La Tournage – The French Film Crew returns this year after debuting last year as our first multimedia camp. This exciting camp for 8-12 year olds simulates the world of French filmmaking while exposing campers to the French language. By the end, campers will have proudly contributed to a cinematic masterpiece in front of and behind the camera!  Global News Network, for 6-10 year olds, becomes our second multimedia camp.  This new global multimedia camp thrusts the campers into the current events around the globe.  They learn about language, culture, and geography through their live reporting and production of international newscasts!

Our very popular International Cooking Camps are all back with many new recipes this year! Little chefs gather in the Los Monitos kitchen to create and enjoy delectable dishes from around the world, all while learning the target language(s) of the region(s). Each camp has its own theme – French Cooking, European Cooking, Spanish Cooking, Asian Cooking, and NEW this year, Italian Cooking! Each week a Top Chef is recognized for their over-and-above efforts!

The fun begins the week of June 17, 2019 and continues for the next seven weeks with these 5 day*, full-day camps.  All camps run from 9AM to 4PM with drop-off times beginning at 8:50AM and pick up by 4:30PM (no programming after 4PM.)  Every week offers something different and there are discounts for multiple campers and multiple camps!  Check out dates and more specifics at www.losmonitos.com/summercamps

For those already familiar with Los Monitos, you may notice some big changes with this Fall’s programming schedule.  And you are correct.  What’s different?  Well, let me start with WHY it’s different.  As we were considering the Early Fall schedule, we were wanting to add some additional options.  What is the best way to consider different options?  We thought…how about just ask?  So we did.  And we got a great response back!  Maybe it was the free class drawing that we offered that drove the responses, or maybe that was just the impetus that you needed to give us some schedule feedback.  So here’s what we want you to know…We heard you!

Here’s a list of some changes that have been made to our schedule:

1. Added a weekday XL Spanish class
2. Added a weekday Chinese class
3. Added weekend options for XL Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Italian
4. Added TWO weekend Kids’ Spanish classes for 3-5YO and 6-9YO
5. Added a weekend Kids’ Chinese class for 6-9YO

Whew!  And if that wasn’t enough, we also made another slight change to all classes.  We know that for busy people, it’s always a challenge to decide on a commitment to attend any class for a number of weeks in a row.  Well, hopefully, we just made that easier.  We have shortened our group language rounds to 6 weeks, with each class lasting 90 minutes.  This results in a shorter commitment and actually slightly increases the overall contact hours up to 9.  Even better, there’s no change in price…all adult group classes remain $179.

One final change (that actually began earlier this year):  Los Monitos now offers Online Instruction.  Private Instruction students can opt for online now and gain several benefits:

1. Don’t have to drive anywhere
2. Use our online platform to see and hear your instruction live and utilize the whiteboard and screen share options.
3. Get access to your recorded sessions for future reference.
4. Meet with your instructor for as little as 30 minutes per session.
